Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then located many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative said the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
